Message from the Chief

On behalf of the men and women of the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue The ChiefDepartment, it is my pleasure to welcome you and thank you for visiting our online home. I hope our site and links will provide you with the knowledge and information you desire regarding prevention, education, emergency medical services, fire suppression, and emergency preparedness.

The entire combination Fire and Rescue Services is composed of three organizations working together for the public good.

Fire & Rescue
The Fire and Rescue Department is the direct arm of city government in this endeavor. The Manassas Volunteer Fire Company has been providing fire suppression services since 1892. And the Greater Manassas Volunteer Rescue Squad was founded in 1966 providing pre-hospital care. We also have a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) that assists us during major events in the city and are ready if we suffer a disastrous incident. Together our members provide emergency services to the residents and visitors of the City of Manassas, Manassas Park, and Prince William County, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Safety Tips
You should always make sure that, at a minimum, you have at least one working smoke detector near the sleeping areas in your home. We like to remind you that when you change your clocks you should place new batteries in your smoke detectors. If you need your smoke detectors checked, or need smoke detectors installed in your residence, please contact us and our staff will gladly come to assist.

The Vision
Our vision for the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Service is to be a model combination system, recognized as a leader in the fire and rescue service at the local, state, national and international levels. We have PRIDE in our Organizational values - Professionalism, Respect, Integrity, Dedication, and Excellence. We have also adopted Guiding Principles of:

  • Do the right thing for those we serve.
  • Perform to the best of our abilities.
  • Treat the customer how we wish to be treated.
  • Everyone goes home.

We work to achieve the vision and operate by the guiding principles every day.

So, welcome to the City of Manassas Fire and Rescue Department website. I hope you find it a useful source of information about our people, our activities and our organization. Please feel free to visit any of our fire and rescue stations at any time; our members would be happy to show you around our facilities and answer any questions you may have.
