History
First Landing Strip In 1930 the Manassas Town Council proposed that a landing strip be constructed along Virginia Route 234 near Manassas. At that time the population of Manassas was 1,215 and the Mayor was Harry P. Davis, for whom the Airport is named.
A group of investors purchased almost 95 acres of land in the area now known as Manaport Shopping Center along Route 234 and leased it to the Town in 1931. |

New Airport Over the next few years an additional 12.6 acres were purchased and several improvements were made at the airport. In 1945 the town purchased the airport outright.
Due to increased activity at the airport and encroaching housing development, the town saw the necessity of moving the airport to a new location. The first property at the current airport location was purchased in 1963 and on September 20,1964, the new airport was dedicated with a single 3700' x 100' paved runway, a rotating beacon, maintenance hangar and office, and 30 T-Hangars. Since 1964, many changes have taken place at Manassas Regional Airport. Additional land was purchased and many improvements were carried out including a 5700' parallel runway, additional ramp areas, perimeter and access roadways, and a Main Terminal Building. Private franchise holders have constructed many T-Hangars, Corporate Hangars, businesses and other facilities at Manassas Regional Airport. Read More
