Curbside Trash

If you experience problems with trash, recycling, or yard waste services, please contact the Manassas Trash Line at 703-257-8252.

Once a week collection for single family homes either on Wednesday or Thursday depending upon location. Recycle materials are collected same day. Yard waste is collection on Mondays, all year.

Twice a week collection on Tuesday and Friday for townhouse communities. Recycle is collected on Tuesday and bulk items are collected on Fridays only. Yard waste collection are completed on Mondays, all year.

Any material longer than four feet should be cut to four feet or less and tied into bundles.

Bulk Items
Common household appliances: stoves, washers, dryers, dishwashers, and furniture may be set out for regular trash collection. Townhouses must set bulk items out on Friday for collection.

Please contact the trash line at 703-257-8252 to schedule when you need to set out bulk items such as:
  • Refrigerator
  • Freezer
  • Dehumidifier
  • Air conditioner

These items need special handling due to the freon EPA regulations. Due to city code and safety issues doors must be taken off. A fine may occur if they are not.

Items Not Accepted for Curbside Trash Collection

  • Antifreeze
  • Automobile parts
  • Car Batteries
  • Cement, concrete materials
  • Chemicals
  • Computer monitors
  • Dead animals
  • Dirt
  • Engines
  • Fire extinguishers
  • Large amounts of construction debris
  • Motor oil
  • Paint cans with paint in them
  • Propane or helium tanks
  • Rocks, stones
  • Riding lawn mowers
  • Tires
  • Tree stumps
  • TV's
  • Whole decks or whole sections of fencing

Construction Materials
Residents are limited to one cubic yard (three-feet-by-three-feet-by-three-feet) per set out. Small amounts less than one cubic yard may be set out, but large amounts should be taken to the Manassas Transfer Station or residents may rent the city’s courtesy truck for $75.
