Public Works Director

The mission of City of Manassas Department of Public Works is to provide public services, capital projects, facilities and equipment, as established and assigned by the City Council and State, that contribute to the health, safety, and well-being of the community. These include Building Maintenance, Buildings & Grounds, Cemeteries, Refuse & Recycling, Streets, Traffic Controls and Vehicle Maintenance.

Steve Burke has more than 20 years of experience in local government. He previously served as the City’s Public Works Director from 2016 – 2018 until he began work as the Town Manager of Luray, Va. He previously served as Town Manager for Front Royal, Va.


Education

• Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Florida

Career Highlights and Associations

• In his role as Town Manager for Luray, Va. Burke oversaw the daily operations of the town, served as Zoning Administrator, developed and managed the annual operating budget and capital improvement budget, and coordinated community outreach and COVID-19 responses.
