What is the City of Manassas Government Channel?

City of Manassas (COM) Government Channel is a 24-hour government channel for Comcast cable television subscribers in the City of Manassas (Channel 23) and Verizon FIOS subscribers in Northern Virginia (Channel 38). The government channel provides live coverage of City of Manassas City Council meetings, as well as bulletin board information about city government programs, services and special events.

COM Channel Objectives

The primary goal of the COM Government Channel is to make city government more accessible and understandable to the residents of the City of Manassas. This is accomplished through the production and distribution of local, regional, national, and privately produced programs that will assist viewers in understanding how their local government operates, what city services are available, how to participate in city programs and how the activities of city government affect the community.

Local Information

When possible, the COM Government Channel also serves as a local source of information in the case of a local emergency, such as hurricanes, floods, terrorism attacks, etc. In addition, City Council and School Board meetings are broadcast live.

Who is responsible for the City of Manassas Government Channel?

COM Government Channel is provided and maintained by the Information Technology division. They are responsible for the day-to-day operation of the channel, under the direction of the City Manager and Information Technology Manager.
