Join the Manassas Museum’s Volunteer cohort and share your passion for history and museums!
The Manassas Museum is hosting visitors in our newly reimagined spaces and we are recruiting Volunteers who will support the museum in a variety of ways:
Greeting Visitors:

• Greet visitors when they come into the building.
• Orient visitors to museum spaces (bathrooms, meeting rooms, etc.).
• Orient visitors to exhibit themes and available resources, such as interactives and gallery guides. Please note, greeters will not be leading any tours of the galleries or historic sites at this time.
• Answer basic questions about City destinations (e.g. recommend a restaurant downtown, etc.)

Program Assistance:

• Provide information, assist with hands-on crafts and other activities, and event set-up and cleanup. 
• May include physical labor, administrative assistance, and working with the public. 

Discovery Cart:

• Properly set up and tear down the Discovery Cart 
• Engage visitors with museum collections objects
• Use a visitor-centered approach and inquiry-based learning strategies to facilitate conversations with visitors 
• Ensure safety of collections objects by enforcing procedures for proper collections handling   
• Encourage visitors to interact with the Discovery Cart

Liberia House:

• Follow all proper procedures for opening and closing the house
• Welcome visitors 
• Provide information about house and grounds as relevant
• Use a visitor-centered approach and inquiry-based learning strategies to facilitate conversations with visitors 
• Monitor visitors for safety and accessibility concerns
